Both Mostar and Međugorje are day trips from Dubrovnik into Bosnia and Herzegovina, but they appeal to very different travelers. Here's how to decide.

Choose Mostar (with Kravice) if…

  • You want history, architecture and photogenic old-town atmosphere
  • You'd like to combine a town with nature — the Kravice Waterfalls
  • You're travelling for sightseeing and culture rather than faith
  • You want the single most iconic Bosnian day trip from Dubrovnik

Choose Međugorje if…

  • You're drawn to one of the world's most-visited Catholic pilgrimage sites
  • You want to walk up Apparition Hill and experience the spiritual atmosphere
  • A reflective, quieter day appeals more than a busy sightseeing town
  • You're travelling as a pilgrim or with a faith group

Can you combine them?

They're in the same region but make for a long, stretched day if forced together — each really deserves its own trip. If you have two days for excursions, doing them separately (Mostar & Kravice one day, Međugorje another) is far more rewarding than rushing both.

Our honest recommendation

If it's your first trip into Bosnia and you want the classic highlight, choose Mostar & Kravice. If you're travelling for the pilgrimage or want a calmer, meaningful day, choose Međugorje. Both run as small-group or private tours with hotel pickup — and both need your passport.
